Intuitive Eating is a compassionate, non-diet, evidence-based approach to one’s relationship with food, movement, and body. It aims to help people reconnect with internal body cues, including hunger, fullness, satisfaction, as well as emotional needs. It does not prescribe rules or restrictions but rather encourages body-mind congruence, recognizing that you are the expert of your body. Intuitive Eating emphasizes autonomy, body trust, and attunement. It is designed to help people move away from cycles of deprivation and guilt, toward a flexible, sustainable, nourishing way of caring for the self.
Intuitive Eating offerings at Veillette Psychology Services are informed by the work of dietitians Evelyn Tribole, MS RDN and Elyse Resch, MS, RDN.

Meet Your Instructors
Laurie is a licensed clinical psychologist with specialized training in health psychology. The daughter of author and nutritionist, Carol Simontacchi, CCN, she grew up around conversations about weight loss and fat phobia, shaping an early awareness of the cultural forces that influence how people relate to their bodies. During graduate school, Laurie trained in Dr. Paula Brochu’s research lab, where she studied weight bias and stigma. She went on to publish research in this area, deepening her commitment to weight‑inclusive care.
Six years ago, Laurie discovered Intuitive Eating, an approach that resonated deeply with her understanding of how weight stigma, diet culture, and the thin ideal contribute to both physical and emotional distress. Since then, she has provided individual and group Intuitive Eating services, helping people rebuild a peaceful, compassionate, and sustainable relationship with food, movement, and their bodies in ways that honor their values and lived experiences.
Laurie Veillette, Psy.D.
Robin is a registered dietitian, intuitive eating counselor, and teaching kitchen instructor with over 20 years of experience in clinical and culinary nutrition. After years of supporting people through repeated cycles of “healthy eating” and relapse, she sought a more sustainable and compassionate approach. Discovering intuitive eating was a turning point and initial skepticism gave way to deep personal and professional transformation. Through this work, Robin has witnessed people heal their relationship with food, releasing stress, self-criticism, and increasing enjoyment in eating. Blending intuitive eating principles with practical cooking skills to create nourishing, delicious food is not at the heart of her work.
